Top Ten Time Management Boosters

Take Time to Plan
Resist the temptation to rush right into doing something. 15 minutes of daily planning can immensely improve your productivity while reducing crisis management and stress.

What Do You Want?

Before you can get anything done, you need to know what you want to accomplish. Goals will provide a direction on where to spend your time.

Be Flexible

Life happens. Allow time for interruptions, distractions and opportunities.

Take 5 Minute Power Breaks

Taking 5-minute power breaks throughout the day will energize and invigorate you. Unplug, disconnect and get out of the office. You can daydream, look through a catalog, or read motivational quotes.

Join Perfectionist Anonymous

Yes, I’m a recover perfectionist. While I do like my duck in a row before proceeding, I came to realize that the row doesn’t need to be “perfectly” straight.

Learn to Say NO

Planning and focusing on your goals gives you a realistic look at available time. Making it easier for you to say NO to unimportant tasks.

Knowing Your Biological Prime Time

Are you morning, a night or late afternoon person? What time of day are you at your best? Knowing when your best time zone occurs, you can plan your higher priority activities during that time.

Prioritize

Put the 80/20 rule into effect. Identify that valuable 20 percent that will bring you the highest reward. Prioritize your time to work on those items.

Conquer Procrastination.

Often procrastination occurs because of overwhelm from not knowing where to start. Take your larger project and break it down into smaller 15 minute tasks. (this takes planning) Keep doing those 15 minute tasks and eventually you’ll make a big dent in that larger project.

Reward Yourself

Celebrate all your wins even the smallest. Promise yourself a reward for completing a task or project. Most importantly keep that promise.
